Nicola’s Employee Spotlight

We’re kicking off our Employee Spotlight series with the fabulous Nicola, who celebrates her 18-year anniversary this month!

She joined us way back in 2006 as an Office Assistant, moving to Account Manager before becoming our trusty Finance Manager, which she bosses every single day. But she’s way more than her job title ‒ she’s the heart and soul of the agency and we wouldn’t know what to do without her!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? And don’t say your alarm clock!

My 8-year-old daughter, Mollie, who runs into my room for cuddles every morning. It’s one of my favourite parts of the day!

What’s your best achievement?

It has to be being a mum ‒ it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.

What quality do you like best in a person?

Definitely kindness.

If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Roast dinner! I’d happily eat a roast 365 days of the year!

What would you put in Room 101?

That’s a tricky one… I don’t get wound up by much! But I’ve had a few parking tickets in my life, so I think I’ll put traffic wardens in there!

What would be your superpower?

Invisibility so that I can be nosey!

What’s the last joke you heard?

My daughter is constantly telling me jokes that she hears at school, but I can’t remember any of them!

Are you a city, beach or forest kinda girl?

I absolutely love the forest for its peace and tranquillity. I’ve actually done some ‘forest bathing’ and find it really soothing. However, when the weather’s warm I love sea swimming, so I’m a beach girl too!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

Patience ‒ for all sorts of reasons!

Tell us something unusual about yourself.

I go salsa dancing twice a week.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you take?

  • Notepad and pen (do they count as one thing?!)
  • Music
  • Books

Any parting words of wisdom?

I’m trying to live in the moment more and appreciate the little things, especially when I’m with my daughter. It’s so important to spend quality time with the people you love, which is hard to do if you’re distracted by the past or future.
