Brief
We partnered with one of the UK’s most prestigious girls’ boarding schools to design and develop a modern, strategic WordPress multisite for St Mary’s Calne, St Margaret’s Prep, St Mary’s Sports Club and Calne Independent Schools. The goal: unify three distinctive sub-brands under one parent brand while allowing each to maintain its unique identity.
Objectives
+ Enhance brand recognition across multiple audiences.
+ Drive open day bookings, enquiries and admissions.
+ Showcase each school’s values, facilities and academic excellence whilst creating seamless navigation between sites
Approach
Our process combined strategic discovery, UX design, copywriting and technical delivery to create a cohesive and scalable multisite:
Objectives
+ Collaborative workshops with stakeholders to understand pain points and aspirations.
+ Research and audit of existing content, SEO, accessibility and analytics.
+ Development of information architecture and sitemaps, defining user journeys for prospective and current audiences.
+ Creation of a unified yet distinctive user experience where each sub-brand has its own look, feel and tone but shares an intuitive navigation structure.
Design and copywriting
+ Creation of high-fidelity UX prototypes and bespoke systems in Figma
+ Key page copy crafted alongside internal teams, ensuring clarity, warmth and editorial sophistication.
Technical delivery
To maximise reach, frequency and performance, we activated a complete channel mix:
+ WordPress multisite development using the Gutenburg block editor, enabling intuitive content management for non-technical editors.
+ 15 core page templates built per site, fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile.
+ Seamless integration of enquiry forms, open day bookings, news modules and analytics tracking.
Design and copywriting
+ Accessibility-first approach: semantic HTML, high contrast, scalable fonts and support for assistive technologies.
+ QA, internal testing and CMS training to ensure smooth handover and long-term maintainability.
