Attending business networking events is all about opening doors to new opportunities ‒ from meeting inspiring professionals to sparking collaborations that could lead to something exciting, or generate new business.

Young TBN is an engaging networking brunch hosted by Total Business Network, designed to introduce young professionals to the art of networking in a supportive and welcoming environment. Held at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth, we sent our brilliant Account Managers, Oscar and Megan, to represent Halo, make connections and maybe snag a pastry or two!

Here are a few things they learned:

  1. Confidence is key. It’s likely that it’s other people’s first event too, so don’t be afraid of introducing yourself (with a firm handshake to boot!).
  2. The power of building authentic connections with people, especially others around your age, cannot be understated. If you’re only there to collect business cards, people will sense it. Real connections come from meaningful conversations, not just exchanging contact details.
  3. Listen more than you speak. People appreciate a good listener, and it shows you care about what they have to say – you have two ears and only one mouth for a reason!
  4. The follow-up is crucial. A simple message via LinkedIn after the event can turn a fleeting conversation into a lasting professional relationship.

A big thank you to Liz Hutchings from TBN and all those involved at the Marsham Court who helped bring this brilliant event together – we’ll see you at the next one!

If you’re looking to connect with others in the community and expand your professional network, be sure to check out their upcoming events here: TBN Events.
